Broadband Equipment Market to See Modest Growth Through 2030 as Fiber and DOCSIS 4.0 Drive Demand

The global Broadband Access Equipment market is expected to grow at a modest average annual rate of 0.3 percent from 2025 to 2030, with total revenue peaking in 2028, according to a new forecast from Dell’Oro Group.

Growth in the Broadband Access Equipment market will be supported by continued investments in DOCSIS 4.0 upgrades and fiber network expansion by cable and fiber internet service providers, even as near-term expectations soften.

Dell’Oro Group has lowered its outlook compared to July 2025, citing a slower-than-expected ramp in 50 Gbps PON deployments worldwide. Operators are becoming more cautious due to slowing average data consumption growth and increasing pressure to protect margins in highly competitive broadband markets. While fiber expansion and subscriber growth remain strategic priorities, service providers are placing greater emphasis on ensuring broadband investments deliver clear economic value.

Within the market, PON equipment revenue is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 1.9 percent between 2025 and 2030, led by strong XGS-PON deployments across North America, EMEA, and CALA, along with FTTR rollouts in China. Cable Distributed Access Equipment revenue, including Virtual CCAP, Remote PHY, Remote MACPHY, and Remote OLT platforms, is expected to reach $1.2 billion by 2030 as operators advance DOCSIS 4.0 and initiate selective fiber deployments.

Fixed wireless CPE revenue is forecast to peak in 2026 and 2027, driven mainly by 5G sub-6 GHz devices and a rising share of 5G millimeter wave units. Meanwhile, revenue from Wi-Fi 7 residential routers and broadband CPE with WLAN is projected to climb to $7.9 billion by 2028, before growth slows as Wi-Fi 8 products begin to enter the market.
