Alaska Communications offers Internet speeds of up to 1 Gigabit in Anchorage

Alaska Communications today announced Internet speeds of up to 1 Gigabit to businesses and consumers in Anchorage.

Consumers in certain areas will also soon be able to get speeds up to 50 Mbps.

The improvement in broadband speed follows Alaska Communications decision to invest in fiber optic network.

“For the past 18 months we’ve been investing in a very large fiber optic network project to bring faster connectivity to our customers. These new speeds are a result of that work,” said Anand Vadapalli, Alaska Communications president and CEO.

Alaska Communications said it charges a flat monthly rate for unlimited data, with no overage charges; installation fees may apply.

Packages for businesses are available with options like IT managed services and Voice over Internet, depending on an individual business need.
