Samsung and KDDI join to launch LTE in Japan

Samsung Electronics announced its provision of LTE
solutions to KDDI, one of Japan’s largest telecom operators. KDDI and Samsung
plan to launch a commercial LTE service in 2012.

During the past 10 years with the close business
relationship based on shared values, KDDI and Samsung have established the goal
to provide a high-quality of product and service. On the same lines, KDDI and
Samsung intend to provide the best and differentiated LTE service to consumers
as well.

Samsung aims to introduce the industry’s
first and the most optimized LTE solution for hotspots in extremely dense user
areas that require higher capacity mobile broadband, whilst simultaneously
improving service quality in weak-signal areas.

In India, Samsung is in talks with leading service
providers to provide its LTE Solutions so that the Indian consumers can be
provided with the complete experience of 4G services once the implementation
schedules are worked out by the Indian service providers.

As a long-term partner of KDDI, we’re very pleased
to support them in establishing a new chapter of mobile communication in Japan.
It’s a cornerstone for today’s achievement that Samsung has always focused on
providing solution for improving operators’ and end-users’ satisfaction since
we entered into the telecommunication systems business. We’ll make constant
efforts to provide more countries with our cutting-edge LTE solutions,” said
Youngky Kim, executive vice president and general manager,
telecommunication systems business, Samsung Electronics.

Through this partnership, Samsung expands its growing
success and global presence within the industry following major LTE successes
in the United States, Saudi Arabia and South Korea.  Samsung has
cooperated with KDDI to provide commercial CDMA systems since 2002.
