The test and measurement company has already supplied its 5G testing solutions to mobile operators, chipset makers, smartphone manufacturing companies and telecom equipment suppliers.

Anritsu in an internal document during the recent analyst meet said 5G is in the phase of verification testing and commercialization. Chipset development has completed its initial stage.

In addition, 3GPP Release16 is scheduled in the early 2020, and development of the chipset made for 3GPP Release16 will begin. “Going forward, we are planning to develop measuring instruments that will support functions that will be added,” Anritsu said.

Anritsu earlier said the Group’s order intake increased 15 percent to 73.9 billion yen and revenue increased 14 percent to 71.1 billion yen in Q3. Operating profit was 7.7 billion yen, an increase of 5 billion. Profit was 6.3 billion yen, an increase of 4.8 billion.
Anritsu revenue Q3 2018The T&M business achieved increases in both revenue and profit by capturing investment in initial development for 5G with operating profit of 6.5 billion yen and operating margin of 13.4 percent.

Anritsu said the 5G Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A signed agreement for 5G chipset companies and devices makers.

Order intake of the T&M business 18 billion yen (+34 percent), primarily due to the capture of initial 5G development demand.

Revenue related to investment in initial development for 5G increased primarily in the North America and Asia regions, Anritsu said.
Anritsu in 5G

Anritsu said demand for measuring instruments for research and development in 5G related mobile market is expanding with its main test and measurement segment.

Anritsu has revised its revenue estimate for North America and Asia due to 5G development investment demand for chipsets and mobile devices.

The test and measurement equipment market is expected to grow from $25.7 billion in 2018 to $32.3 billion by 2024, at a CAGR of 3.9 percent.

The market is growing due to the demand in sectors such as automotive & transportation, aerospace & defense, IT & telecommunications, education & government, semiconductor & electronics, industrial, and healthcare.

Meanwhile, the global base station analyser market is estimated to have grown over 5 percent to approximately $1 billion market in 2018.

Anritsu earlier announced that its 5G NR RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR has won world-first approval for 5G NR RF Conformance tests from the Global Certification Forum (GCF).

NR RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR supports both planned 5G NR SA and NSA modes, while combination with Anritsu’s 5G over-the-air (OTA) chamber (CATR) covers all 5G frequency bands, including sub-6 GHz and mmWave.

Anritsu also announced that the Global Certification Forum (GCF) has approved the world’s first 5G NR Protocol Conformance tests on the 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR at their January 2019 CAG57 meeting.

The ME7834NR test platform supports 5G NR in both Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) modes, in addition to LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-A Pro, and W-CDMA.

Anritsu said it’s delivering 3GPP 5G NR-compliant protocol and RF measurement test solutions for Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modems. SA mode uses 5G NR technology to send and receive both data and control signalling between 5G base stations and mobile terminals.

Anritsu’s 5G NR test solution supports both SA and NSA mobile terminals and will help to ensure timely introduction of 5G NR mobile devices for the first rollout of commercial 5G services in early 2019.
