Telecom Lead Europe: Nokia Siemens Networks
has announced that it is going to launch its Flexi Multiradio CDMA Base Station
at International CTIA Wireless 2012.
The telecom equipment maker said that the new base
station is energy efficient and compact, and will help operators to lower costs
as well as allowing a smooth migration to LTE.
We’ve integrated our acquired CDMA capabilities into the
industry-leading Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi Multiradio Base Station
portfolio, focusing on customers’ on-going needs. To achieve this, we have
invested significant R&D resources to create flexible future options for
CDMA operators including multi-technology capabilities,” said Scott Mottonen,
head of the CDMA/LTE business line, Nokia Siemens Networks.
The new base station offers CDMA operators low total cost
of ownership (TCO). The company said that tests conducted by them have shown
that, compared to earlier generations of base stations, the new product can
reduce base station operating costs by up to 70 percent.
The company said that the base station provides some of
the latest CDMA 1X Advanced (voice) and EV-DO (data) capabilities, as well as
flexibility and scalability to meet future demands.
Furthermore, the company added that operators can be
assured that their CDMA investments are protected as they transition towards
LTE with this base station.
The Flexi Multiradio CDMA Base Station is backed by
Nokia Siemens Networks’ global experts and complete portfolio of services
including consultancy, design and planning, systems integration, deployment,
optimization, maintenance, and managed services.
The Flexi Multiradio CDMA Base Station will be
available for commercial deployments in the 800MHz and 1900MHz frequency bands
by the end of 2012, with additional frequency bands provided based on market
demand.
Nokia Siemens Networks extends TD-LTE portfolio with 1.9GHz
support
Recently, Nokia Siemens Networks announced that it is
extending its TD-LTE technology to support the 1.9GHz frequency
bands. It will allow operators to use existing 1.9GHz spectrum allocations to
provide TD-LTE services.
