Ericsson announced its three-year telecom equipment deal with Hi3G, operating as 3 in Denmark, to modernize its transport network with 5G-ready routers.
Ericsson will implement Router 6000 hardware, software and customer support for Ericsson Radio System for Hi3G’s IP Mobile Backhaul transformation project in Denmark.
The main strategy of Hi3G, one of the leading telecom operators, is to prepare the mobile network for future 5G requirements, and support the significant increase in the number of connected devices on the network.
Hi3G’s telecom engineers will start the rollout during the fall of 2018 to improve the customer experience.
The Scandinavian communications service provider has a long experience with Ericsson’s MINI-LINK product portfolio, which shares a common management system with Router 6000 series.
“We are looking forward to continuing our good partnership and relationship with Ericsson with state of the art transmission equipment. This is the next step into the 5G era,” Kim Christensen, network director of 3 Denmark, said.
Mobile operators can add revenues of $204 to $619 billion (12 to 36 percent) to their forecast service revenues of $1.7 trillion in 2026 by targeting the digital transformation of other industries, such as automotive and manufacturing, using 5G-IoT technology, Ericsson’s 5G Business Potential report said.
Ericsson said the Router 6000 responds directly to operators’ challenges of growing data traffic and significant increase in the number of connected devices.
