Verizon hires MTV executive Mariana Agathoklis for communications team

Verizon Mariana AgathoklisWireless major Verizon Communications announced the appointment of Mariana Agathoklis as vice president of corporate communications responsible for strategy and implementation of external communications.

Mariana Agathoklis, who will be a key part of the leadership team on issues and initiatives affecting the company, will report to Jim Gerace, Verizon chief communications officer.  She will be based at the Verizon Center in Basking Ridge, NJ.

Mariana Agathoklis was most recently vice president of communications at MTV, leading a New York/LA-based communications team whose work spanned MTV’s series, specials and initiatives across its digital, mobile and social media platforms, including the MTV Video Music Awards, MTV’s public affairs campaigns and MTV News.

Verizon said Mariana Agathoklis was also responsible for corporate / brand communications efforts involving senior MTV leadership and MTV’s research division. Previously, Mariana Agathoklis worked on the Rock Band video game franchise for MTV Games.

Mariana Agathoklis is a graduate of Boston University’s College of Communication and mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City. Mariana Agathoklis joined MTV in 2005 from PR agency Porter Novelli.
