America Movil reveals Capex growth, Opex gains in Q2

America Movil net debt and EBITDATelecom operator America Movil revealed its Capex (capital expenditure), savings in Opex, data revenue growth and improvement in EBITDA for the second quarter of 2017.

America Movil said its second quarter revenues rose 6.9 percent to nearly 249 billion pesos, with service revenues increasing 8.1 percent and mobile data revenues growing at 21.8 percent.

Mexico and the South American block — particularly Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and Peru — were the main forces behind the increase in service revenues.

All operations, excluding one, achieved ARPU increases.

America Movil said EBITDA rose 13.7 percent to 69.4 billion pesos. Its operations achieved sequential increases in EBITDA (14.4 percent in Peru; 10.7 percent in Chile; and 7.5 percent in Argentina).

In Europe, Mexico and Colombia the quarter-over-quarter increase in EBITDA was 5.8 percent, 2.7 percent and 1.9 percent respectively.

The EBITDA margin stood at 27.8 percent, up 0.7 percentage points from the prior quarter and up 1.7 percentage points from the year-earlier quarter. EBITDA margins increased sequentially in all operations save for the Caribbean, which had a slight decline.

Operating profit increased almost 21 percent to 31.2 billion pesos.

America Movil capital expenditures totaled 51 billion pesos in the first half of the year.

America Movil postpaid wireless subscriber segment registered annual increase of 5.1 percent after net additions of 565 thousand in the quarter, including 166 thousand in Mexico and 124 thousand in Brazil.

Fixed-line platform broadband accesses rose 5.7 percent after 209 thousand new access gains in the quarter.

Pay TV subscriber base registered 278 thousand disconnections, 1.3 percent of total PayTV units.
