Global broadband connection speed increased 2.3 percent to 6.3 Mbps in the third quarter of 2016, a 21 percent increase year over year.

South Korea had the highest average connection speed at 26.3 Mbps in the third quarter, according to State of the Internet report for the third quarter of 2016 released by Akamai Technologies.

South Korea offers average broadband speed of 26.3 Mbps (–2.5 percent) broadband speed. Hong Kong, which is ranked number two, offers 20.1 Mbps (+3.4 percent) speed.

India’s broadband speed grew 14 percent quarter on quarter and 62 percent year on year to 4.1 Mbps. But India’s position based on broadband speed is 105 in the global telecom markets.

Global average peak connection speed increased 3.4 percent to 37.2 Mbps in the third quarter, rising 16 percent year over year.
Main mobile browsersSingapore had the highest average peak connection speed at 162 Mbps in the third quarter. The report said 10 Mbps broadband adoption rate rose 5.4 percent quarter over quarter.

15 Mbps broadband adoption rate increased 6.5 percent. 25 Mbps broadband adoption rates grew 5.3 percent.

Average mobile connection speeds ranged from a high of 23.7 Mbps in the United Kingdom to a low of 2.2 Mbps in Venezuela.
