Minieum Selects Radisys Trillium software protocol for dual-mode small cells

By
Telecom Lead Team:
Radisys Corporation, a provider of embedded
wireless infrastructure solutions, announced that Minieum Networks, an
equipment provider for next generation wireless base stations, has selected
Radisys’ Trillium protocol software for its dual-mode enterprise and
residential small cell solutions, combining 3G and Wi-Fi services in one unit.

The Trillium protocol software provides telecom equipment
manufacturers (TEMs) like Minieum with a complete small cell software
implementation that is deployable off-the-shelf. Using this hardened and
field-tested solution, TEMs are able to focus their efforts on developing
unique applications, such as dual-mode applications, rather than spending
valuable time on software design.

Minieum’s dual-mode small cells function as a 3G small
cell base station and Wi-Fi device in a single unit, allowing operators to
reduce their CAPEX and OPEX while also simplifying service infrastructure.

We selected Radisys for its track record in delivering a
complete, high-quality small cell software solution,” said Kevin Lee, vice
president of Sales, Minieum. Our engineers were able to focus their efforts on
building the 3G small cell and Wi-Fi applications required for these dual-mode
femtocells, rather than spending valuable time and R&D funds to meet the
capabilities required on the protocol software side,” Lee added.

Radisys’ protocol software enabled record time-to-market
for both Minieum’s epRAN enterprise femtocell and apRAN access point small cells, which have completed
interoperability testing with mobile operators in Indonesia, Thailand and
Malaysia.

Radisys’ complete software implementation not only
speeds up time-to-market for our customers, but it also provides unmatched
flexibility,” said Todd Mersch, director of Product Line Management, Software
and Solutions, Radisys.   A key benefit of the Trillium solution is the
flexibility for integration and verification across Radisys’ market-leading
silicon vendor ecosystem,” Mersch added.

Radisys will be showcasing its small cell solutions at
Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Feb. 27-March 1 at booth #1F01.

Radisys
recently launched Trillium TOTALeNodeB, a software solution that simplifies the
integration of LTE small cells while reducing product development time in
half.
