Nokia Siemens Networks opens LTE lab in Silicon Valley

By Telecom Lead Team: Telecom equipment major Nokia
Siemens Networks announced that it is opening a new facility in Silicon Valley
to work on testing and implementing new technologies based on the emerging 4G
LTE standard.

Through it new facility, the company will allow
manufacturers and software developers to test their products on high-sped
mobile broadband networks and receive analysis on how those products are
performing in an LTE environment.

Nokia Siemens Networks also owns facilities in Finland,
France, and South Korea, as well as another one in the US in Dallas.

The company said that its new lab will be able to help
advance the world of high-speed mobile content so the entire industry can take
full advantage of the immense power that LTE can provide.

The company added it will officially unveiled new tool
that allows mobile product engineers to test their performance on such a
network at Mobile World Congress in Spain.

The new facility of Nokia Siemens Networks is a result of
increasing focus on the Silicon Valley area, as the mobile industry becomes
less about providing great telecommunications services (which is a given at
this point) and more about the latest emerging software and technologies.

Recently,
Mobile major KT selected Nokia Siemens Networks as one of its LTE (4G) mobile
broadband infrastructure and services vendors.

The operator plans to meet the fast growing demand for mobile
broadband and smartphone data services by re-farming its 1.8GHz band. This will
allow KT to offer its subscribers a superior, 4G, mobile broadband experience
by mid 2012.
