Telconet, a telecom services provider in Ecuador, is deploying Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi products and technology.

Ruckus Wireless will support Telconet to provide wireless access to smartphones and tablets users in municipalities in Ecuador.

Nearly 1.3 million homes in the country had Internet access in 2014, according to Ecuador’s Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society (Mintel). More than 5 million mobile clients were in use, accessing the Internet via Wi-Fi.

Telconet is using more than 4,000 Ruckus ZoneFlex indoor and outdoor access points. The company is managing the Wi-Fi network with a combination of Ruckus SmartCell Gateways (SCGs) and Ruckus ZoneDirector controllers, plus FlexMaster software.

This apart, Telconet is utilizing the Ruckus SmartCell Insight (SCI) data analytics platform to analyze the operation of their network.

Telconet CTO Arturo Velasco said: “Telconet network provides Wi-Fi coverage to over 100,000 users. It took 15 days to deploy the first set of controllers and access points. Ruckus technology has enabled us to deploy rapidly.”
