Tele2 and KPN have signed a new seven-year deal for upgraded fixed broadband access on the KPN network.
The VULA (Virtual Unbundled Local Access) deal enables Tele2 to offer fixed broadband speeds of up to 100Mb/s – addressing the demand for data from both B2B customers and consumers.
Jeff Dodds, CEO of Tele2 Netherlands, said: “With this agreement in place we will be able to offer much, much faster fixed broadband services to a much larger number of homes. With our fixed and mobile networks in place we will be able to offer our customers affordable, high quality internet.”
VULA Currently Tele2 offers ADSL and VDSL services using its own fiber network and KPNs copper network for the last mile.
Customers can benefit from new technologies in the KPN copper network, such as pair bonding and vectoring, ensuring higher speeds of up to 100 Mb/s, comparable to the speeds currently offered over coaxial cable.
According to KPN’s current projections around 85 percent of the Netherlands will have access to speeds up to 100Mb/s by the end of 2016.
