Airtel supports Digital India Week with E-Shakti initiative

Bharti Airtel has joined hands with Madhya Pradesh Government for E-Shakti, a Digital India Week initiative.

The aim of the E-Shakti project is to build Internet awareness and literacy among women in Madhya Pradesh.

Bhoopendra Singh, Minister for Science and Technology, at a ceremony held at Subhash Excellence School, Bhopal, conducted an Internet training session during the launch program for over 300 girl students.

The Madhya Pradesh State Government has identified the girl students from Government schools and colleges and women employees of various Government departments as the beneficiaries of E-Shakti initiative. 6 districts — Bhopal, Dewas, Gwalior, Damoh, Dhar and Satna – will be covered in the first phase of the initiative.

Bharti Airtel said the training would include elementary knowledge pertaining to internet, email usage, browsers, YouTube, IRCTC, State Government portals and mobile apps and other apps of daily use including social media. Each session would be attended by 50-70 members.

“The digitally empowered women would thus prove to be a strong foundation for the state of Madhya Pradesh,” said Vir Inder Nath, chief executive officer, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Bharti Airtel.
