Mavenir to buy Stoke to enter small cells, add LTE Security Gateways

Software-based networking solutions vendor Mavenir Systems is set to acquire mobile gateway solutions provider Stoke.

The strategy of Mavenir is to expand its global reach, adding presence in markets like Japan and South Korea, enhance its security product portfolio with the addition of LTE Security Gateways and enter into small-cell market with its own gateway product.

Mavenir Systems did not disclose the financial details.

Stoke provides mobile gateway solutions to the broadband network industry and has been a market leader in deployed LTE Security Gateways.

Stoke customers include NTT Docomo and Softbank. Mavenir will utilize Stoke’s integrators including Net One Systems, Macnica Networks in Japan and Samsung in South Korea for its 4G LTE solutions, while Stoke’s Security Gateway will be distributed through existing channels to Mavenir’s customer base.

Pardeep Kohli, president and chief executive officer, Mavenir Systems, said: “Combined with our Session Border Controller (SBC) and evolved Packet Data Gateway (ePDG), Stoke’s LTE Security Gateway (SEG) enables Mavenir to deliver a complete, secure, end to end solution to our customers globally.”

Mavenir Systems’ revenue for the third quarter of 2014 rose 31 percent to $34.1 million. As per its guidance, 2014 revenue is expected to increase 27-29 percent to $129 million to $131 million.

“The Stoke product suite is a complementary addition to Mavenir’s technology,” said Vikash Varma, president and CEO, Stoke.
