Bezeq deploys 100G optical network using ECI Telecom

Israel telecom operator Bezeq International has deployed Israel’s first 100G optical network, using ECI Telecom’s Apollo packet-optical transport system.

The 100G network will enable Bezeq International to address demands from large enterprise and business customers, who are looking for increasing speed and capacity.

Bezeq will be in a position to offer disaster recovery contingencies. The new network is now serving these customers, alleviating capacity bottlenecks during high-usage times.

“Deploying 100G was a natural evolution to Bezeq International, as we continue to address our customers’ demands for better and more cost-effective services,” said Sagi Kozuch, CTO, Bezeq International.

In March 2013, Bezeq International’s live networks conducted 100G trials. The trial, conducted in conjunction with the Tera Santa Consortium, demonstrated the advanced capabilities of ECI 100G transmission system and technologies in compensating for non-linear channel impairments and chromatic dispersion utilizing advanced SD-FEC algorithms.
