Nokia India banks on cost effective Lumia 520 priced at Rs 10,500

Telecom Lead Asia: Nokia India on Wednesday said Nokia Lumia 520 will be priced at around Rs 10,500 and Nokia Lumia 720 at around Rs 17,500 (€249) before taxes.

While Nokia Lumia 520 will be available in the next one week, Nokia Lumia 720 will be landing in India in the first week of April.

Nokia Lumia 520 will be the most cost effective in the Luma series.

Both smartphones — on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 and Windows 8 — were announced at Mobile World Congress 2013.

Vipul Mehrotra, director – Smart Devices, India Middle East Africa, Nokia, said: “We hope to get more market share in Indian mobile phone market after launching 5 Lumia range of smartphones. Last year, we did not have Microsoft Windows driven phones.”

Nokia is also betting on its Asha range of phones.

Nokia Lumia 720

Nokia Lumia 720’s large f/1.9 aperture and Carl Zeiss optics are designed to deliver clear pictures at any time of the day or night. The HD-quality 1.3 megapixel wide angle lens is perfect for taking group portraits with friends or making video calls.

Nokia Lumia 720 has features such as Cinemagraph, Smart Shoot and Glam Me to capture and share pictures.

Nokia Lumia 720 comes with free HERE suite of applications, including HERE Maps, HERE Drive for free turn by turn navigation and HERE Transit. Nokia Music offers unlimited music streaming, free of adverts or subscription charges, it also includes the ability to download playlists to listen offline. With NFC connectivity, music can be streamed from the Nokia Lumia 720 directly to NFC enabled accessories such as the JBL PlayUp portable speaker, simply by tapping the two devices together.

Nokia Lumia 520

With Windows Phone 8, Nokia Lumia 520 provides personal smartphone experience. Xbox, 7GB of free online SkyDrive storage, PeopleHub, HERE, Microsoft Office with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are some of the features. With an 8GB mass memory and expandable 64GB memory slot, Nokia Lumia 520 also allows to store more content.
