Hurricane Irene : Verizon stores to support residents affected by storms


As power outages and recovery efforts continue along the
coast in the aftermath of devastating storms over the weekend, Verizon Wireless
retail stores in the Philadelphia Tri-State Region are ready to help area
residents contact family, friends and loved ones.


Residents without working cell phones can make free
domestic calls from the company’s pool of working handsets in its retail
stores. Additionally, the stores are ready to assist customers who need to
charge their cell phones and smartphones.


Customers can also conduct standard activities in the
stores including establishing new lines of service, purchasing phones and
accessories and paying bills. Store hours are Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-9 p.m. and
Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

recently announced that it has prepared
in advance and acts quickly when faced with severe spring weather to ensure its
customers have continued access to the wireless communications they rely upon
when they need it most. 


With floods anticipated in eastern North Dakota and
northwestern Minnesota this month, Verizon Wireless prepared for expected
spikes in call volume by increasing its call capacity 25 percent at its
facilities in Fargo, Grand Forks, Warsaw and Wahpeton, N.D., along the Red River;
in Hillsboro and Mayville, N.D., along the Goose River; and in Crookston,
Minn., along the Red Lake River.
