Asia Video Convergence Alliance launched

The
Asia Video Convergence Alliance (AVCA) announced its launch at the BIRTV 2011
conference in Beijing, China.

Asia,
home to seven of the top ten online-video consuming countries in the world and with
the highest penetration of mobile video usage globally, will now have an
industry alliance that joins together thought leaders to address the industry’s
opportunities and challenges.

AVCA
joins together key players in the video convergence value chain to promote
industry education, innovation and partnerships.

AVCA is focused on
coordinating collaborations within the industry, promoting new technology
solutions and collaborating to educate the market about the development of
Internet Protocol (IP) capabilities and over-the-top (OTT) commercial
initiatives.

The
alliance is led by a Governing Committee. founding member, KIT digital a
premium, cloud-based software solutions and technology services provider for
multi-screen video delivery, will Chair the Governing Committee, working in
partnership with the founding vice chair, Exicon, Asia’s leading digital
innovation and strategy consulting firm.

The
governing committee also includes Cloudcast, a member of the Quanta Group, the
world’s No. 1 notebook computer ODM company, and 21vianet, the largest
carrier-neutral Internet data center services provider in China.

“KIT
digital is excited to help bring together the region’s IP video and cloud
computing thought leaders to form the Asia Video Convergence Alliance,”
said Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, chairman and CEO, KIT digital.

As
more and more video is consumed over mobile devices, connected TVs and web
browsers, cooperation and standards-setting between the various players in the
video convergence arena becomes important to the organized growth of our
dynamic industry.

“Smart
media is the future of information technology, and vice versa, all under the
cloud in the broadest sense. A member of Quanta Group, the number one notebook
computer ODM company in the world, Cloudcast is based in Tapei and provides
