PTA outlines payment terms for 5G spectrum license holders

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has outlined payment terms for 5G spectrum license holders following the March 10 auction. The policy grants a one-year moratorium from license issuance, during which operators are exempt from payments and interest. After this period, companies must select a payment plan, with remaining dues subject to markup based on KIBOR plus 3 percent. To ensure timely compliance, PTA has introduced a late payment penalty of 2 percent per month on overdue amounts and warned of legal action in case of defaults.

Smarter, Faster Emergency Response: Oklahoma Rolls Out Next-Gen 9-1-1 Network

The 911 Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (911 ACOG) has selected Allerium, a division of Comtech, to deploy a next-generation 9-1-1 (NG911) call routing network. The multi-year agreement expands their partnership and introduces advanced call routing services across 22 emergency centers serving more than 740,000 residents. The project includes the rollout of Oklahoma’s first Emergency Services IP Network along with Next Generation Core Services, enabling support for voice, text, video, and data. Initiated in February 2026, the deployment marks a significant upgrade in the region’s emergency communication capabilities.

Half the Fleet Sitting Idle: Data Blind Spots Cost Businesses Big

A new report from Teletrac Navman reveals that poor data accessibility is leaving equipment idle up to 50 percent of the time, significantly impacting fleet productivity. The study found that 74 percent of operators consider limited data access a major barrier to effective equipment utilization. Additionally, 67 percent of organizations admit to “equipment hoarding,” where assets remain unused due to uncertainty around maintenance, availability, and scheduling. This lack of visibility leads to inefficient operations, as businesses struggle to track and deploy assets effectively, highlighting widespread challenges in fleet and equipment management across industries.

Telecom Shakeup: Fastweb & Vodafone Cut Ties with INWIT Towers

Fastweb, part of Swisscom, and Vodafone have moved to terminate their long-term Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Italian tower operator INWIT, citing above-market leasing costs and failed renegotiation talks. The formal termination is expected by March 2028 under contract terms, but INWIT plans to legally challenge the move, arguing the MSA extends until 2038. This decision comes as Fastweb and Telecom Italia plan a joint venture to build up to 6,000 telecom towers, directly competing with INWIT’s infrastructure. The dispute highlights rising tensions in Italy’s telecom sector over tower ownership and lease agreements.
