The move follows EchoStar’s request for an extension of construction milestones associated with key spectrum licenses, including AWS-4, Lower 700 MHz E Block, 600 MHz, AWS-3, and AWS H Block licenses.

The updated framework allows EchoStar to optimize its coast-to-coast rollout of the world’s first cloud-native Open RAN 5G Boost Mobile Network. The company aims to deploy the network more efficiently in new areas of the U.S., delivering innovative and affordable wireless solutions. This development is poised to benefit millions of consumers by enhancing coverage, lowering prices, and fostering innovation.

Key Milestones and Commitments

80 percent U.S. Population Coverage by 2024: EchoStar’s network will expand to cover over 80 percent of the U.S. population by the end of 2024, an increase of 30 million people from its 2023 commitment of 70 percent coverage.

Expanded Infrastructure Buildout: By June 2025, EchoStar will deploy 24,000 towers, surpassing its previous goal of 15,000 towers by 9,000. The company is also committed to making its network 3GPP Release 17 compliant by this time.

Low-Cost 5G Plans: EchoStar commits to offer a low-cost 5G broadband plan and device to consumers nationwide for the duration of the Extension Period. This mobile data and voice plan will offer at least 30 GB of data per month for no more than $25.00 to both prepaid and postpaid customers. EchoStar commits to making such device available for purchase at no more than $125.

Support for Small Carriers and Tribes: EchoStar will offer spectrum leasing options to small wireless carriers and Tribal nations in areas where it has not yet deployed infrastructure.

EchoStar’s partnerships with AT&T and T-Mobile ensure that consumers in areas still awaiting network deployment can access its Boost Mobile service via these roaming partners.

This accelerated deployment, in tandem with the FCC’s new framework, demonstrates EchoStar’s commitment to expanding 5G access and advancing the wireless ecosystem across the U.S.
