Deutsche Telekom offers IoT for a lifetime fee of 10 euros

Deutsche Telekom IoT networkDeutsche Telekom has presented Europe’s lifetime fee of 10 euros for smart devices on the Internet of Things (IoT).

Customers will receive a data flat rate of up to 500 megabytes for the service life of each smart device of ten years.

IoT customers need not pay monthly fee, changing amounts depending on the volume of data consumed. The offer is initially valid within the European Union as well as in Switzerland and Norway.

Deutsche Telekom, as a pioneer in NB-IoT, is effectively pushing ahead with the expansion of the network.
Deutsche Telekom IoT application“With this tariff, we will make it as easy as possible for our customers to implement new IoT solutions. That means no monthly bills, no additional fees, no tariff jungle,” said Alexander P Sator, founder and CEO of 1NCE.

Deutsche Telekom’s NB-IoT achieves long ranges, consumes hardly any energy, costs little and is aimed in particular at customers from the energy sector, the transport and logistics sector and the public sector with their Smart Cities.

“Deutsche Telekom’s own service-based NB-IoT offering is optimally complemented by 1NCE’s simple, disruptive business model. Together, we are addressing a larger market and creating the best customer experience,” said Hagen Rickmann, managing director Business Customers at Deutsche Telekom.

Deutsche Telekom has NB-IoT presence in 8 countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia and Croatia.

Claudia Nemat, board member for Technology and Innovation at Deutsche Telekom, said: “We upgrade our base stations throughout Europe to support NarrowBand-IoT using the 900MHz and 800MHz frequency. The technology has achieved the promised 20dB improvement in coverage.”
