Vodafone adds 250 cell sites, invests Rs 96 crore in Kolkata

Vodafone India pitches women to head 25 out of 95 operational zones
Telecom network operator Vodafone India today said it rolled out over 250 cell sites and invested over Rs 96 crore in Kolkata in the first half of the current financial year.

It has also made significant investments in upgrading its network plus modernizing the radio network and switching systems. In addition, Vodafone made investments in upgrading charging platforms to facilitate a wider bouquet of products and services.

The investment will assist Vodafone India to improve customer experience and launch its 4G services in Kolkata by end of calendar year 2015. The company will launch 4G services in select locations in Kolkata in the initial phase of the LTE network roll out.

Kolkata with 25 percent of data revenues is one of the top data markets for Vodafone in India and is growing at more than 50 percent.

“We will continue to pursue our customer centric strategy of continuing to meet their needs for better and smarter connectivity for both voice and data,” said Anand Sahai, business head – Kolkata and West Bengal, Vodafone India.
