Telecom network operator Vodafone will launch its 4G LTE services in Karnataka this year.
Vodafone 4G will reach Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and Hubli in the initial phase of the 4G roll outs. Vodafone has invested more than Rs 725 crore in Karnataka towards Capex (capital spending) to upgrade its network in the first six months of the current financial year. The focus of Vodadone was to beef up its 3G network presence and roll out 4G in Karnataka.
The Mumbai-headquartered telecom operator is relying on its investment in fiber to increase the internet connectivity. 20 percent of Vodafone revenue in Karnataka comes from data. The data revenue in Karnataka is growing at over 50 percent.
On Monday, Vodafone announced its plan to launch 4G in Mumbai. Vodafone is slow in announcing its 4G launch. Its rival Airtel earlier said its 4G LTE services have already reached more than 300 towns across the country. Airtel is also focusing on Platinum 3G.
“We will launch 4G services in the superior 1800 MHz band and also provide a faster and enhanced 3G experience for our customers,” said Suresh Kumar, operations director –South, Vodafone India.
