Vi beats Jio and Airtel in download speed: Opensignal

Opensignal’s India Mobile Network Experience report today revealed the performance of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Reliance Jio.
Vi mobile network in IndiaSmartphone users on Vi’s network saw download speeds of 13.6 Mbps — 0.4 Mbps faster than Airtel users. Vi users observed the fastest average upload speeds of 4.9 Mbps, placing Vi ahead of Airtel (4.3 Mbps) and Jio (4.1 Mbps) in this category.

Smartphone users on Airtel enjoyed the best available quality of experience when streaming videos, playing multiplayer mobile games, or using over-the-top (OTT) voice services.

Jio wins the 4G Availability and 4G Coverage Experience awards as users on its network spent the greatest proportion of time connected to 4G services — 99.5 percent. Airtel is in second place with a 4G Availability score of 98.3 percent, followed by Vi’s score of 92 percent.

The Capex spend of Vodafone Idea for Q3FY22 was Rs 10.5 billion vs Rs 13 billion in Q2FY22.

Vi, during the December quarter, added ~4,000 4G FDD sites primarily through refarming of 2G / 3G spectrum to expand 4G coverage and capacity as well as to upgrade core and transmission network.

Vi’s broadband site count stood at 450,330, marginally lower compared to 450,481 in Q2FY22 as started shutting down 3G sites in a phased manner. Till date, Vi deployed nearly 67,000 TDD sites in addition to the deployment of ~13,850 Massive MIMO sites and ~13,150 small cells.
