TIM Brazil showcases cloud-based VoLTE and VoWiFi

TIM Brazil showcased its cloud-based 4G VoLTE and VoWiFi services at a media conference in Rio de Janeiro, ahead of the Olympics event, partnering with Huawei.

Debuting NFV-based 4G HD audio and video communication in South America for the first time, the second largest mobile operator in Brazil, with a 75 million subscriber base, claims to enhance the communication experience for the Rio Olympics.

Rio de Janeiro became the first city providing NFV-based VoLTE and VoWiFi services in South America, with this announcement.

The operator is collaborating with Huawei for the latest technology implementation on its 4G network.

The Huawei CloudCore solution was deployed for the NFV-based VoLTE and VoWiFi services, after the operator improved its network coverage, to cope with the upscale in mobile traffic during the Olympics event.

The operator claims to offer high-speed Internet through the 4G network to its users, alongside VoLTE, VoWiFi, ViLTE services, and 4G HD audio and video calls with instant call connection and seamless handover.

Huawei having already installed 80 cloud-based commercial networks globally, completed the CloudCore solution for the Brazilian operator in 6 months.

The deployment included CloudIMS, the universal E9000 hardware, and FusionSphere-OpenStack Cloud OS.

“Using a variety of advanced technologies, we have ensured communication during major events and prepared the networks for voice and data traffic surges. We also offer Key Event Assurance services developed using cutting-edge methodologies. We will continue to support TIM Brazil with its transition into the 4G era,” conveyed Huang Hailin, Vice President, Huawei (Brazil).

Huawei has successfully deployed 91 VoLTE/VoWiFi networks worldwide and being partner to multiple operators in Latin America, carries on assistance in cloud transformation to effectively use the present network infrastructure.

It has projected total revenue this year to reach $75 billion, and is investing and centering on the Internet of Things (IoT), virtual reality, cloud, SDN and 5G technology.
