Thailand telecom operator dtac announced the launch of its LTE services. The 4G network is supported by Ericsson.
Total Access Communication (dtac), which has approximately 27.9 million subscribers, invested more than THB 130 billion over the past decade to upgrade its technology and improve service quality in Thailand.
The telecoms’ 4G LTE network in on 2100MHz for its users in Thailand.
Ericsson, which supplied User Data Management, Evolved Packet Core and circuit core solutions, said dtac users in Bangkok Metropolitan will enjoy faster mobile broadband services and better network performance.
By deploying 4G/LTE on 2100MHz, dtac TriNet will ensure improved network capacity and enhanced performance in Bangkok. dtac will also have a cost-effective network ready for continued data-traffic growth.
“Our vision of Internet for All, equality of access to all Thais, is to enable all Thai people to access the internet for a better quality of life. 4G services will foster entrepreneurship and active development among mobile operators, vendors, application developers and content producers,” said Panya Vechbanyongratana, senior vice president, Network Operations Division, dtac.
Though 50 percent of the world’s LTE smartphone traffic is served by Ericsson networks, which is more than double the traffic of its closest competitor, Ericsson is yet to sign any significant 4G deal in the Indian telecom market.
Nokia Solutions Networks (NSN), Huawei and ZTE are ahead of Ericsson in the Indian 4G LTE market. Ericsson did not get any of the 4G roll outs announced by Bharti Airtel which has 4G presence in 4 cities and more than 100,000 LTE subscribers.
