ZTE announced its partnership with Sri Lanka Telecom, the largest wireless broadband operator in Sri Lanka, to complete a PoC verification test for LTE-A Pro, in Colombo.

ZTE uses its eWBB solution that features technologies like Massive MIMO, CA, uplink and downlink high-order modulation, and 4×4 MIMO in this test. ZTE topped comprehensive rankings of the test results, showing its strength in 4G. The test is another push of ZTE into the TD-LTE field.

Sri Lanka Telecom selected ZTE to deploy the eWBB solution in its existing networks as part of its strategy to implement LTE-A Pro.

ZTE in a statement said that eWBB solution can increase the network capacity and performance dramatically, with a wide range of key technologies like 256QAM, 4×4 MIMO, CA, MU-MIMO, and Pre5G Massive MIMO.

Sri Lanka Telecom conducted the LTE-A Pro test in a network environment with real-world scenarios, showing the capability of eWBB solution to lower network transport requirements to enhance 4G inter-cell performance.

The China-based telecom equipment maker said that Massive MIMO product of ZTE offers peak rate of 720 Mbps per carrier, six times faster than a traditional TD-LTE carrier, in a real commercial network.

ZTE claims that it was the only technology vendor that offered a peak throughput of over 1 Gbps, using 4CC, 256QAM, and 4×4 MIMO.

Sri Lanka Telecom will use the ZTE eWBB solution that offers benefits such as easy to plan and fast to build, bringing broadband networks to unconnected. ZTE said the eWBB solution offers higher transmission rate and a more cost-effective tariff as compared with ADSL and FTTx, two broadband technologies.
