Reliance Jio revenue grows 7% to $2.9 bn in Sept quarter

Reliance Jio said sales revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2020-21 rose 7.1 percent to $2.9 billion.

Reliance Jio’s EBITDA for the quarter increased 8.7 percent to $ 1.1 billion.

Reliance Jio reported net profit $ 409 million, registering growth of 19.8 percent.

Reliance Jio’s customer base as on 30 Sept 2020 reached 405.6 million, reflecting growth of 1.8 percent.

Reliance Jio reported ARPU of Rs 145 per subscriber per month as against Rs 140.3 per subscriber per month in the previous quarter.

Total wireless data traffic of Reliance Jio was 1,442 crore GB, registering 1.5 percent growth.

Reliance Jio, which is promoted by Mukesh Ambani, has become the only mobile operator (outside China) to have reached the milestone of 400 million subscribers in a single country market.

China Mobile is the largest telecom operator in the world in terms of its subscriber base in a single country.

Vodafone is the largest telecom operator based on its subscriber base in several countries.

The Reliance Industries (RIL) subsidiary said wireless gross addition showed a strong sequential increase to 27.2 million as lockdown restrictions began to ease during the quarter.

Monthly churn rate for wireless subscribers increased to 1.69 percent with follow through impact of COVID-19 on SIM consolidation and recharge cycle of migrant population.

Customer engagement continued to be robust with average wireless data consumption per user per month at 12 GB and average voice consumption at 776 minutes per user per month, with an increasing usage of application-based voice on data networks.
