Ericsson to supply 4G equipment to KDDI

Telecom service provider KDDI has selected Ericsson as one of the prime vendors to deploy its LTE network.

As per the 4G deal, Ericsson will provide LTE radio access network based on RBS6000 as well as the Evolved Packet Core. The radio access network is based on LTE FDD. In addition to network solutions, Ericsson will provide related services such as network rollout and systems integration.

This is the first time that Ericsson, which has delivered more than 180 LTE RAN and Evolved Packet Core networks, and KDDI have collaborated to implement a radio access network.

Jan Signell, head of Region North East Asia at Ericsson, said: “Ericsson has been collaborating closely with KDDI to demonstrate the value of our globally recognized LTE solution.”
