Airspan Networks unveils 5 GHz 4G base station suitable for Russian market

Airspan Networks, a provider of broadband wireless access networks,
announced the launch of a 5 GHz release of the flagship Air4G base station.
This new product is suitable for the 5-6 GHz band in the Russian Federation.

Air4G in 5.15-6.45 GHz extends Airspan’s regional offering which
previously consisted primarily of 802.16d fixed WiMAX equipment. Airspan customers will now benefit from a solution for building 4G networks in areas
dominated by dated pre-WiMAX equipment.

Air4G is a macro cell 4G base station that offers advanced Quality of
Service (QoS), highest range and capacity, and adaptive MIMO for improved link
budget. The uniqueness of Air4G is in the ability to integrate both 4G 802.16e
WiMAX and 4G TD-LTE. The new Air4G product operates in the full 5.15-6.45 GHz
spectrum.

“Airspan Networks is committed to the success of the Russian
wireless market,” said Amit Ancikovsky, president of Products and Sales
for Airspan.

“This new addition to our Air4G line of products builds on our
existing market presence and focuses on helping operators to develop advanced
4G networks that enable them to be competitive as well as help wider population
access to wireless broadband data and voice services in areas with limited
wire-line penetration ability. Air4G in 5 GHz is ideal for the Russian market
as the band is more readily available to operators than traditional 2 GHz and 3
GHz bands,” Ancikovsky added.

In addition to the Air4G for 5 GHz band, Airspan has a wide variety of
4G products that operate in the 700 MHz up to the 6 GHz frequency bands.
