Reliance Jio 4G subscriber base touches 168 mn with 45% share: TRAI

India’s wireless subscriber base fell 1.33 percent to 1,151.94 million in January 2018 from 1,167.44 million in December 2017, TRAI said.

The report indicated that the 4G subscriber base of Reliance Jio has touched 168 million plus in January 2018. Reliance Jio has 44.54 percent share in the Indian broadband market in January 2018 against Bharti Airtel’s 19.84 percent share.
Wireless subscription in urban areas declined 2.33 percent to 652.85 million in January 2018.

Wireless subscriptions in rural areas increased 0.02 percent to 499.09 million.

Wireless tele-density in India declined to 88.83 in January 2018 from 90.11 in December 2017.

Urban wireless tele-density declined to 159.39 in January 2018 from 163.44 in December 2017.

The below statistics indicates that Airtel is the number one telecom operator with 25.32 percent share. Vodafone has 18.56 percent share, Idea Cellular has 17.16 percent share and Reliance Jio has 14.62 percent in the Indian wireless market.
Rural wireless tele-density declined to 56.25 from 56.28.

TRAI said the share of urban and rural wireless subscribers in total number of wireless subscribers was 56.67 percent and 43.33 percent respectively in January 2018.

Broadband subscribers

The number of broadband subscribers increased 4.2 percent to 378.10 million in January 2018.

Top broadband service providers are Reliance Jio Infocomm with 168.39 million, Bharti Airtel with 75.01 million, Vodafone with 54.83 million, Idea Cellular with 37.33 million and BSNL with 21.81 million.

Top five wired broadband service providers are BSNL with 9.33 million, Bharti Airtel with 2.16 million, Atria Convergence Technologies with 1.29 million, MTNL with 0.90 million and Hathway Cable with 0.74 million.

Top five wireless broadband service providers are Reliance Jio with 168.39 million, Bharti Airtel with 72.85 million, Vodafone with 54.82 million, Idea Cellular with 37.32 million and BSNL with 12.48 million.
