Jio adds 8.54 mn mobile subscribers as Airtel, Vodafone lost share

Vodafone Idea’s mobile subscriber base in India reached 380 million after it lost 3.4 million users in July 2019.

Bharti Airtel’s mobile customer base in India dropped by 2.6 million to 328.51 million in July 2019.
Reliance Jio’s mobile phone subscriber base increased by 8.54 million to reach 339.79 million during the period.

BSNL, a telecom operator owned by India government, has added 288,027 mobile phone customers to take its total to 116.45 million users in July.

Vodafone Idea has a market share of 32.53 percent as compared with Reliance Jio at 29.08 percent and Airtel came in third with a 28.12 percent share.

The total number of wireless users stood at 1,168.31 million, while the wired connections stood at 20.96, according to TRAI’s telecom subscription data as on July 31.

India’s wireless subscribers increased from 1,165.46 million in June to 1,168.31 million in July 2019.

Wireless subscription in urban areas increased from 657.27 million in June to 659.87 million in July 2019.

Wireless subscription in rural areas increased from 508.19 million in June 2019 to 508.45 million in July 2019.

India’s wireline subscriber base fell to 20.96 million in July from 21.17 million in June.

The top five wired broadband service providers are BSNL with 9.05 million subscribers, Bharti Airtel with 2.40 million, Atria Convergence Technologies with 1.47 million, Hathway Cable & Datacom with 0.85 million and You Broadband with 0.75 million.

The top five mobile broadband service providers are Reliance Jio with 339.79 million, Bharti Airtel with 121.54 million, Vodafone Idea with 110.90 million, BSNL with 12.58 million and MTNL with 0.21 million.
