Broadband CPE revenue up 3% to $2.8 bn in Q1 2015

Broadband CPE revenue increased 3 percent year-over-year and dropped 2 percent sequentially to $2.8 billion in the first quarter of 2015.

Unit shipments of broadband CPE increased 9 percent year-over-year and was flat sequentially to 54 million as telecom service providers expanded their fixed broadband service capabilities in the customer premises equipment market, said IHS.

“We expect both DOCSIS 3.1 and G.fast to help add momentum to the cable and DSL CPE market segments and FTTH to continue at its current pace, driven by deployments in China, North America and EMEA,” said Jeff Heynen, research director for broadband access and pay TV at IHS.

IHS said the top performers in Q1 2015 were EPON and fixed LTE with both growing in double-digit percentage in unit shipments.
EPON ONTs and video gateways for cable operators in North America, GPON ONTs in Europe and VDSL CPE in Latin America achieved growth.

Mobile broadband routers are likely to see shipments of over 622,000 in 2019, said IHS.
