What’s the size telecom service market in third-quarter?

MTN Consulting – in its latest report – has revealed the total size of the telecom services market in terms of revenue, Capex, Opex, among others, during the third-quarter of 2024.

Kazakhstan mobile networkTelecom operator revenues grew 0.8 percent o $441.4 billion in 3Q24. Annualized revenues of telecom operators rose 0.1 percent to $1,770.6 billion.

Top performers by annualized revenue growth include Airtel (4.6 percent), America Movil (4.3 percent), STC (4.2 percent), Deutsche Telekom (3.3 percent), and BT (2.5 percent).

Worst performers were Vodafone (-6.8 percent), KDDI (-5.7 percent), NTT (-5.0 percent), SoftBank (-3.6 percent), and BCE (-1.6 percent).

Exchange rates were stable versus 3Q23.

Capex of telecom operators fell 6.1 percent to $71.1 billion in 3Q24. Annualized capex of telecom operators dropped 7.7 percent to $294.6 billion.

Top capex growth: BSNL (300.6 percent), Telstra (52.3 percent), BT (4.8 percent), NTT (3.0 percent), China Mobile (1.9 percent).

Capex declines: Reliance Jio (-27.4 percent), Verizon (-22.5 percent), Vodafone (-20.0 percent), Deutsche Telekom (-18.1 percent), KDDI (-16.3 percent).

Opex of telecom operators rose 0.9 percent to $1,507.9 billion annualized; ex-D&A, Opex grew 1.7 percent to $1,179.4 billion.

Labor costs increased 0.8 percent, accounting for 22.2 percent of Opex ex-D&A.

EBIT margins of telecom operators dropped from 15.5 percent to 14.8 percent; EBITDA margins fell from 34.5 percent to 33.4 percent.

Americas led revenues with 37.2 percent share; Asia followed at 36.4 percent.

Asia led Capex at 38.2 percent, surpassing Americas. Europe posted highest capital intensity at 17.8 percent, followed by MEA at 17.0 percent.
