Telecom operator Vodafone Idea has increased the price of select post-paid plans by Rs 50 in the Uttar Pradesh East circle, PTI reported.
The tariff hike in mobile services has come after a gap of about a year when all the three companies, Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, had raised tariff by up to 50 percent.
Debt-ridden Vodafone Idea has been pushing for a 7-8 times hike in price of mobile data services.
Bharti Airtel has been pressing for raising tariff to earn average revenue of Rs 200-300 per user every month.
In December 2019, Vodafone Idea made call and data charges on prepaid networks dearer by 50 percent.
Vodafone Idea on October 30 reported a loss of Rs 7,218.2 crore for the quarter ended September 2020. The company’s mobile subscriber base declined by around 4 crore on a year-on-year basis to 27.98 crore and the debt of Rs 115,940 crore. The company has estimated statutory dues liability of Rs 65,440 crore.
