Vizada expands Satcom portfolio

Vizada, an independent satellite communications provider,
announced that it is supporting the launch of the new Iridium Extreme rugged
handheld with location-based services.

As an official Iridium Extreme launch partner, Vizada is
working with Iridium to equip Vizada Partners with everything they need to get
this product in the hands of users quickly and easily.

Iridium Extreme has integrated GPS to allow for
location-based services such as online tracking and emergency SOS notification
ensuring the safety of personnel deployed remotely. Vizada’s secure web portal
enables administrators to view and monitor Iridium Extreme users in the field
through the available tracking and mapping services.

“Vizada’s approach to the market is to offer the
widest, most complete selection of mobile and fixed satellite solutions for
air, sea and land,” said Bob Baker, CEO of Vizada Americas.

“Iridium handhelds have long been an important part
of that strategy and these new devices offer advancements in both durability
and accessibility that customers worldwide are seeking,” Baker added.

The Iridium Extreme handset complements Vizada’s
full line of satellite handheld services. Vizada will also make available for
purchase the Iridium AxcessPoint accessory that connects Wi-Fi-enabled devices,
such as smartphones, via Iridium’s global network.

“Vizada has been a valuable Iridium partner for many
years and we are pleased they are one of our select launch partners for this
important new device and service,” said Matt Desch, CEO, Iridium.

“We count on Vizada and all our partners to uphold
our commitment to quality and reliability that our customers demand,”
Desch added.

To further support end customers and optimize
opportunities for service providers, Vizada has made its SkyFile Mail and
SkyFile Mail via Iridium RUDICS available for the Iridium Extreme. The company
also provides Fixed2 Mobile Calling with Iridium +1 Access. All service
providers can manage services through Vizada’s online account management tool,
The Source.

Vizada will make terminals available to its service
provider partners through its Logistics Centers in Rockville, MD USA and The
Hague, Netherlands. This distribution model provides fast turnaround on both
emergency and standard orders. Vizada also provides 24×7 customer care for all
products and services it offers.

Recently, Vizada Networks has been selected
by NC3A for the upgrade and
expansion to its existing Air Command and Control System (Air C2) in Afghanistan for use by the International Security Assistance Force
(ISAF). The contract, which was
signed in May of 2011, covers the design and final delivery within 52 weeks of
a Radio-over -P (RoIP) system housed in CIS shelters to 16 sites in
Afghanistan.
