TELUS to invest $116 mn in telecom network in Greater Montreal

TELUS today said it will invest $116 million this year in new telecom infrastructure and facilities across the Greater Montreal area.

The focus will be on expanding wireless capacity and data speeds, connect more businesses directly to the company’s fiber optic network, and deliver TELUS Health technology solutions.

The Canadian telecom operator has already announced its investment of $1.6 billion in Quebec till 2018. By the end of 2018, TELUS will have invested $23 billion in Quebec since 2000.

“We are more than doubling our investment in the region this year compared to last year to connect local businesses directly to our fiber optic network and bring faster, higher-capacity wireless services to more Montreal neighbourhoods,” said François Gratton, executive vice-president and president, Business Solutions East and TELUS Quebec.

The investment from TELUS supports in connecting Montreal businesses and healthcare facilities to its fiber networks.
