Telekom Austria plans $850 million investment in 2016

Telekom Austria Group, an America Movil group company, is planning to make an investment of EUR 750 million or nearly $850 million towards Capex in telecom networks in 2016.

The annual Capex of Telekom Austria rose 3 percent to EUR 780 million in 2015. The company made investment in mobile network and broadband rollout. The mobile operator has invested EUR 452.4 million (+13.5 percent) in Austria, where the company’s headquarters are located.

“We must invest in infrastructure, new technologies and know-how moving forward,” said Alejandro Plater, CEO of Telekom Austria Group.

Telekom Austria said its grew 1.3 percent to EUR 4,096.8 million, while net income reached EUR 392.8 million in 2015.

Telekom Austria says fixed access lines rose 23.7 percent to 3,368,300 and mobile subscribers grew 3.5 percent to 20,710,800 thousand in 2015, with the Telekom Austria Group thus exceeding the 24-million customer mark for the first time.
