Swedish telecom operator Tele2 has announced a major leadership transition, with CEO Jean Marc Harion stepping down from his role for personal reasons effective June 30, 2026. The company’s Board of Directors has appointed Nicholas Hogberg as the new President and CEO, effective July 1, 2026, as part of its established succession plan.
Nicholas Hogberg currently serves as Deputy CEO, Executive Vice President, and Chief Commercial Officer B2C at Tele2. He also previously served on the company’s Board of Directors, giving him extensive familiarity with Tele2’s strategic priorities, operations, and customer-focused growth initiatives.
The leadership change comes at a significant time for Tele2 as the telecom operator continues to strengthen its position in the Nordic and Baltic telecommunications market through investments in broadband, mobile services, digital transformation, and customer experience innovation.
Thomas Reynaud, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Tele2, praised Jean Marc Harion’s contribution to the company, highlighting his role in driving business momentum and preparing Tele2 for its next phase of growth. Reynaud also emphasized the Board’s confidence in Högberg’s leadership capabilities, citing his operational expertise, commercial focus, and proven ability to deliver disciplined growth across telecommunications and technology sectors.
Jean Marc Harion said serving as CEO of Tele2 had been a privilege and expressed gratitude for being part of the company’s development journey. Harion will remain involved with Tele2 during the transition period and is expected to continue contributing as a Board member, subject to shareholder approval at the company’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for May 18, 2026.
Harion will remain as an advisor to Tele2 through December 31, 2026, supporting the executive transition and strategic handover process.
Nicholas Hogberg brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across the telecommunications, media, and technology industries. His background includes leading a major mobile operator for nearly a decade, where he drove market share expansion and operational growth. He also helped scale a technology company through one of Europe’s notable organic growth phases.
Hogberg said that Tele2 would continue focusing on enhancing customer experience, strengthening its market position, and exploring new growth opportunities in the evolving telecom industry.
