Optus mobile service revenue rises 3.3 percent

Mobile service revenue increased 3.3 percent year over year to A$1.080 billion from A$1.046 billion, driven primarily by higher average revenue per customer following price increases. It also improved from A$1.071 billion in the March 2026 quarter.

However, total mobile revenue declined 3.6 percent to A$1.325 billion from A$1.374 billion in the June 2025 quarter. Mobile revenue was also below the A$1.439 billion generated in the March 2026 quarter, reflecting pressure from weaker equipment sales.

Optus ended the quarter with 10.648 million mobile customers, down 0.5 percent from 10.698 million a year earlier and 10.722 million in March 2026.

The prepaid customer base of Optus increased 1.4 percent year over year to 3.853 million from 3.801 million but declined sequentially from 3.867 million.

Postpaid customers fell 0.9 percent to 5.769 million from 5.820 million in June 2025 and 5.808 million in March 2026.

Connected-device subscriptions dropped 4.6 percent to 1.027 million from 1.077 million a year earlier. Optus had 1.047 million connected devices at the end of the March quarter.

Mobile ARPU increases as data usage jumps 16.5 percent

Optus’ blended mobile average revenue per customer per month rose 3.4 percent year over year to A$34 from A$33. Blended ARPU was also A$33 in the March 2026 quarter.

Prepaid ARPU of Optus increased 7.7 percent to A$21 from A$19 a year earlier and A$20 in the preceding quarter.

Branded postpaid ARPU rose 3.4 percent to A$50 from A$48 and remained unchanged from the March quarter. Connected-device ARPU was A$13 per month in all three quarters on a rounded basis, although Optus reported a marginal 0.1 percent annual decline.

Average mobile data usage surged 16.5 percent to 25 GB per customer per month from 21 GB in June 2025. Usage also increased from 23 GB in March 2026, indicating rising consumption across the Optus mobile network.

Optus home customers decline to 1.299 million

Optus reported 1.299 million home customers at the end of June 2026, a decline of 1.3 percent from 1.315 million a year earlier. The home customer base also decreased from 1.305 million in March 2026.

National Broadband Network customers fell 0.6 percent year over year to 1.069 million from 1.076 million. The NBN customer base remained unchanged from the March quarter.

Fixed Wireless Access customers of Optus declined 4.1 percent to 230,000 from 239,000 in June 2025 and 236,000 in March 2026.

Blended home ARPU of Optus increased 0.7 percent year over year to approximately A$77 per month. The rounded figure was also A$77 in June 2025, while Optus recorded home ARPU of A$78 in the March 2026 quarter.

The results show that price increases, higher mobile usage and ICT demand supported Optus’ service revenue and profitability, even as lower equipment sales and customer-base declines weighed on its Australian operating performance.
