As Diwali approaches around the corner, mobile operators in India have
come out with exciting range of mobile apps and special offers adding to the
festive cheer for subscribers.
MTS West Bengal announced the launch of special Diwali offer for
customers to shower existing and new customers with high-value prizes such as
car, LCD TV, smartphones, data cards and other items.
MTS has rolled out special offers for all its existing and new
subscribers in Kolkata and West Bengal, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
Customers will stand a chance to win a mega prize of a Car and an array
of high-value prizes like Smartphones, LCD TV, Data Cards, free talk time etc.
on a daily basis.
“MTS celebrates its 3rd Diwali in the Kolkata-West Bengal circle this
year. Since our inception in 2009, we have received an overwhelming response
from our customers. We wanted to make the festive season special for not only
our 2.2 million existing customers but also the new customers who are joining
the MTS family this festive season,” said Keshhav Tiwary, chief operating

Nokia is offering a special set of Diwali apps on its Nokia Store which include special games, real time gold prices, SMS wishes, fireworks
on one’s mobile phone, festive wallpapers, puja process, festival recipes, and
more.
Touch2Sparkle is a touch-based interactive card game for people of all
ages. The game enhances memory skills by taking one through six levels of
progressive difficulty.
Diwali Dhoom allows one to enjoy the total fireworks experience on the
phone. A specialist app to make browsing a memorable experience, one can load
the phone with sights and sounds of Diwali crackers with this application.
Diwali PoojaNews provides complete information on the Puja process,
allowing the consumer to find information on Dhanteras, Rup Chaudas, Lakshmi
Pujan, Govardhana Puja, and Bahi Pujan.
Diwali Wishes SMS allows subscribers to send Diwali greetings, animated
flash scraps, glitter images, and unique SMS to friends, relatives and loved
ones.
Shubh Diwali allows consumers to send wallpapers and wishes to loved
ones. This app also includes a collection of traditional Diwali recipes. In
addition, it also provides a variety of festive themes for the phone.
Diwali Entertainment allows one to select from multiple cities as
background and/or crackers and blow in the microphone of one’s devices.
Gold Price India allows subscribers to keep a track of gold, silver
prices and information on Sensex, Nifty, UDS, EUR in India. The app gives one
instant access to live spot prices for gold and silver. Also, it provides real
time and historical silver and gold price charts in one’s national currency.
SMS Scheduler/Timer allows users to schedule SMS greetings and messages
with ease, by giving users the chance to send greetings by scheduling SMS in
advance, in daily mode. The app has easy UI and detailed logs.
All these apps can be downloaded from Nokia’s Ovi Store, free of cost
throughout the festive season.
Nokia is also promoting its Nokia E6 business smartphone this Diwali. The phone includes new Symbian Anna OS and
Microsoft applications like Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile
and Microsoft SharePoint. It also comes with preinstalled applications like
QuickOffice, JoikuSpot, Premium, World Traveler and F-Secure Mobile Security.

and new subscribers in UP West, Delhi, Dehradun and Uttarakhand, who recharge
with Rs 20 or more. Prizes range from Tata Nano cars, TV sets, refrigerators
and invertors, mobile handsets and gold coins. Other users who take up a new
Idea prepaid connection will also be entitled for the offer with their first
recharge.
Idea Cellular had also announced similar offers in MP & Chattisgarh, entitled “Rim
Jhim Mein Idea ke saath manao “Har Din Diwali” for its prepaid
subscribers in the state giving them an opportunity to win prizes like bikes,
laptops, refrigerators, mobile phones, Idea 3G data cards, DVD players and much
more. This is in addition to assured full talk time on their recharges. While
this offer period ended on September 30, Idea subscribers can also avail of
daily special offers for the next two months.
While BSNL prepaid subscribers will get full talk value equal to MRP on
all top-up vouchers for 2G and 3G for denominations of Rs 100 or more between
24th October to 10th November. In addition, a special discount of 20 percent on
the 7.2MBPS and 14.4 MBPS USB Data card is available to subscribers till 26th
October. To avail of this, customers have to be on an existing 3G postpaid data
plan or recharge with any prepaid Data RCV/STV with MRP of Rs 400 or more. For
its Kerala customers, has launched a new 3G prepaid SIM kit which offers some
unique features like Lifetime free SMS, F&F advantage with zero rental,
lowest night calling rate, and more with lifetime validity. In addition, BSNL
is also offering freebies like 200 free SMS, 100 MB 3G Data usage, and 100 Min
Video calls, available with the new SIM kit, which are valid for 30 Days from
the date of SIM activation.
As part of the promotion for Diwali,
installation charges on Tata Sky’s HD+ (PVR) box will be waived off during
Diwali. In addition, two months of free HD pack will be offered with all HD
boxes activating before Diwali. This is over and above the 2 months free
subscription of the base package being offered. These offers are available for
new and existing Tata Sky subscribers.
In addition to these festive offers a lot of smartphones are set to be
launched around Diwali that include handsets from Philips, Nokia and Google’s
Ice Cream Sandwich.
