Telecom Lead India: The all India blended ARPU per month
increased by 2.93 percent to Rs 96 in December 2011 from Rs 93 in September
2011.
Prepaid ARPU increased to Rs 81 in December 2011 from Rs
79 in September 2011 and postpaid ARPU increased to Rs 553 from Rs 542.
Monthly ARPU for GSM service increased by 2.93 percent to
Rs 96 in December quarter 2011 from Rs 93 in September quarter 2011 with y-o-t
decrease of 8.62 percent.
MOU per subscriber per month for GSM service increased by
0.53 percent, from 331 in September quarter 2011 to 332 in December quarter
2011. The outgoing MOUs (161) increased by 1.00 percent and incoming MOUs (171)
by 0.09 percent.
According to TRAI, monthly ARPU for CDMA – full mobility
service increased by 4.09 percent, from Rs 71 in September quarter 2011 to Rs
73 in December quarter 2011.
ARPU for CDMA has increased by 7.51 percent on y-o-y
basis.
The total MOU per subscriber per month decreased by 1.98
percent to 226 in December 2011 from 230 in September 2011.
The outgoing MOUs (113) declined by 2.32 percent while
Incoming MOUs (112) declined by 1.63 percent.
Gross revenue of telecom service sector in India during
Q3 ending December 2011 was Rs 49,365 crore, showing a decrease of 1.16 percent
compared to Q2 2011.
The year-on-year growth in gross revenue over the same
quarter last year was 15.03 percent. Pass-through charges accounted for 30.96
percent of the GR for the quarter ending December 2011.
The number of telephone subscribers in India increased to
926.53 million at the end of December 2011 from 906.93 million in September
2011, registering a growth of 2.16 percent over the previous quarter as against
2.36 percent during the September 2011.
According to telecom regulator TRAI, about 49.87 percent
of the total net additions have been in urban areas as compared to 64.37
percent in the previous quarter.
Rural subscription growth rate increased to 3.22 percent
in December 2011 quarter from 2.50 percent in September quarter 2011.
