India telecom spectrum auction: demands slows down on 12 Feb

On Feb 12, the 9th day of the spectrum auction, there was no much bidding activity in both 1800 MHz and 900 MHz band.

Except the slight increase in provisional bidding price in circles like Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Mumbai in the 1800 MHz band, the bidding was stagnant.

Over the past one week there was aggressive bidding in key circles like Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh (West) in 1800 MHz band. Delhi and Mumbai were active in 900 MHz band. Delhi saw the highest overall bid, with the provisional bidding price rising from Rs. 428.92 crore on day 1 of bidding to achieving the highest price of Rs. 740.96 crore on the 7th day.

Leading telecom operators like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Reliance Jio Infocomm and Tata Teleservices were among the prominent bidders.

Overall collections reached around Rs 68,000 crore from the ongoing 2G spectrum auctions against Rs 68,000 crore from 3G auctions in 2010. 2G auctions completed 63 rounds on Wednesday.
