Idea Cellular unveils Android 3G phone on Qualcomm processor

Idea Cellular has unveiled one more Android 3G phone on Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Idea Cellular says the new dual SIM 3G Smartphone — Zeal — will help the third largest wireless operator in India to upgrade its existing 2G users to 3G.

The dual-SIM Zeal features 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 256 MB of RAM and Android 2.3.6 platform.

This is the sixth 3G Smartphone from Idea.

Idea is offering special data plans with the new dual-SIM Zeal phone.

For a pack of Rs 261, Zeal users can get 1 GB of free data every month for first 3 months, and free Idea TV for first 3 months.

Priced at Rs 5,390, the new smartphone is especially targeted at the youth community comprising of college students and professionals.

This is lowest priced smartphone from Idea Cellular. The other six phones were priced between Rs 5,994 to Rs 7,992.

Rajat Mukarji, chief corporate affairs officer, Idea, said, “Device plays an important role in enhancing service experience for the user, and has been a key component of Idea’s 3G growth strategy.”

Idea Zeal will be suitable for mobile consumers in semi-urban and rural markets.

Idea Zeal is a sporty looking 3G smartphone based on Android 2.3.6 OS with a 3.5-inch touch screen, having a resolution of 320X480 pixels, and a 3MP auto-focus rear camera with Digital zoom.

While Zeal comes with an internal memory of 256MB RAM & 512 MB ROM and powerful 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, it also offers an micro SD Card slot compatible for cards up to 32GB.

The smartphone from Idea is loaded with other high-end smartphone features such as Wi-Fi, A-GPS,MP3 Player, Bluetooth, built-in Social Media Apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, unlimited SMS/MMS and phone directory, and pre-loaded Google and Youtube, besides the Idea TV.
