GSMA to launch Mobile Connect in India on 19 July

GSMA RCS programTelecom industry association GSMA will launch Mobile Connect in India on 19 July — in partnership with six mobile operators.

Mobile Connect solution, which uses advanced mobile authentication, will help 615 million mobile subscribers to protect their digital identities with a universal log-in.

GSMA aims to ensure the success of Mobile Connect program in India, which has 615 million mobile subscribers, accounting for 13 percent of the global market.

Mobile Connect program is important for India because a number of digital services, accessible from any location and device, are creating new security threats to data privacy and security. Finding a strong revenue generating model has slowed down the penetration of Mobile Connect. GSMA’s Mobile Connect initiative is already available in Bangladesh and some other developing countries in Asia.

Aircel, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Tata Teleservices, Telenor and Vodafone India are partners of GSMA’s Mobile Connect program in India. Mats Granryd, director general of GSMA, will address the media in New Delhi.
