Globe Telecom deploys SingleSON solution from Huawei

Globe Telecom on Monday announced that the company is expanding the deployment of SingleSON solution from Huawei Technologies across the Philippines.

Its investment in SingleSON solution is part of the strategy to modernize broadband wireless network. The nation-wide adoption of the new SingleSON solution will result into better user experience to Globe Telecom’s 46 million mobile customers.

The telecoms will deploy SingleSON on its LTE cells as base software and will be the critical solution to integrate 2G, 3G and LTE together. Globe Telecom is planning to complete the commercial rollout before the third quarter of 2015.

“The adoption of the SingleSON in the entire Globe network will empower us to effectively manage a more complex network and deliver on our promise of superior customer experience. SingleSON allows automatic near-real time diagnostics of our mobile broadband network and optimizing it intelligently,” said Emmanuel Estrada, senior vice president for Network Technical Group-Technical Services Division, Globe Telecom.

Main benefits of SingleSON

SingleSON is expected to improve operation and maintenance (O&M) efficiency and performance. In addition, Globe Telecom can manage the expansion of mobile data services traffic.

The SingleSON solution covers the entire lifecycle of networks as it is designed for automation to provide efficiency and improve network performance. It is also capable of supporting equipment from other vendors.

Globe Telecom said the performance of the SingleSON solution achieved remarkable results and exceeded expectations with immediate improvement on both drop call rates as well as users’ throughput. It also showed better mobile broadband traffic management and sharing of radio resources between layers and technologies.
