Disruptive telecom tariffs in the offing: Videocon cuts STD rates

Telecom Lead Asia: Videocon has slashed STD rates to 25 paisa per minute for its subscribers in Punjab and Harayana circles, indicating a major price war in the Indian mobile market.

Videocon’s Special Tariff Voucher STV24 is aimed at engaging mobile users to talk more with friends and family.

Priced at Rs 24, the special voucher comes with a validity of one week and offers all STD Calls at 25 paise per minute. However, unlike other similar products being offered in market, this STV has no capping on the no of STD minutes being offered at 25 paise/ minute.

For comparison, Airtel offers STD services at Rs 1.5 / minute for Airtel to other operators calls in Punjab telecom circle. In certain schemes, Airtel offers STD at 60 paise / minute. READ Airtel STD package in Punjab HERE

Announcing new STD tariff, Videocon Mobile Services claims that its 2.75 G EDGE network offers crystal clear sound quality and near-zero call drops to mobile phone users.

Arvind Bali, director and CEO, Videocon Mobile Services, said: “Having our own NLD carrier allows us to cut costs and pass on the benefit to our Customers.”

The product addresses calling requirement for a large segment of migrant population, students, business and trader community who have a high STD usage and we seek to engage them with our best network coverage, thus seeking their engaged association with the brand.
