China Mobile adds 26.44 million 3G users in first quarter of 2013

Telecom Lead Asia: China Mobile on Monday said it added 26.44 million 3G users in the first quarter of 2013.

In Q4 2012, China Mobile added 12.34 million 3G users.

Its total 3G users stood at 114.37 million till 31 March 2013, while total telecom customers reached 726.31 million. The world’s largest mobile carrier by subscribers added 16.01 million customers in Q1 2013.

Meanwhile, China Mobile’s revenue in the first quarter of 2013 reached 134.7 billion yuan ($21.79 billion) against 127.445 billion yuan ($20.61 billion) in the same period in FY 2012.

3G assisted the telecom operator to increase first quarter revenue. Wireless data traffic was 382.6 billion MB. Out of this, Mobile Data Traffic was 103.4 billion MB and WLAN Data Traffic 279.2 billion MB
The wireless carrier reported a net profit of 27.9 billion yuan ($4.5 billion) for the January-March period from 27.8 billion yuan a year earlier.

Its EBITDA during the period was 61.213 billion yuan.

SMS usage in the first quarter was 192.7 billion (192.8 billion in Q1 2012).

China Mobile says total voice usage during the quarter was 1,037.5 billion minutes.
