As part of the network transformation, Genband will replace BT’s central legacy switch with multi-country, geo-redundant IP infrastructure.

Genband will also assist the Latin American operator for expanding advanced capabilities to strategic sites that deliver services across Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico.

“Genband’s experience within BT networks worldwide uniquely qualified them to tackle our migration needs here in Latin America as did their end-to-end portfolio,” said Juan Brina, sales director for BT Southern Cone.

“Genband’s carrier-grade products offer 99.99 percent reliability while providing BT customers with a highly scalable interconnection solution and IP peering features,” Brina added.

The S3 Intelligent Session Border Controller enables BT to ensure advanced routing capabilities for IP to IP interconnections with other networks.

Moreover, the BT deployment uses Genband’s G9 Converged Gateway for medium to high density locations, the G2 Compact Gateway for lower density sites, and the C3 Gateway Controller for centralized multi-country switching with evolution to media gateway control across all of BT Latin America.

“Genband’s network transformation solutions and services deliver the advanced IP innovation, functionality and applications that are in demand by customers in the region, while seamlessly migrating BT’s networks cost effectively. This marks the beginning of an exciting partnership between Genband and BT Southern Cone, and we look forward to supporting BT’s ongoing investments in network evolution in Argentina and across the continent,” said Dan Lakey, senior vice president of Americas Sales, Genband.

Meanwhile, Genband also launched Genband C20 Access Gateway Control Function (AGCF) as part of its IMS solution. The new C20 AGCF enables operators to leverage their IMS investments and deliver ubiquitous multimedia services across different access types, including broadband IP, legacy fixed and mobile access infrastructures.

Recently, Genband announced the expansion of its S3 Session Border Controller (SBC) portfolio. Also, the company has enhanced hardware options for its S3 SBC portfolio. The software-based GENBAND S3 SBC portfolio provides solutions suited for a range of environments, from small service provider deployments and enterprise customers all the way up to the world’s largest fixed and mobile service provider networks.
